We are having so much fun in bilingual, we can't keep up with all of the activities we are doing! March has already passed by, but not without some fun and interesting things to keep us busy. March is a month that starts very cold and fierce, (like a lion), and goes out very calm and warm, (like a lamb). Emily taught us this "dicho" in English: "March comes in like a lion, and out like a lamb!" March is also special because of a holiday called Saint Patrick's Day. This holiday came from Ireland, but many people celebrate it in the United States. Why? Because in the past, many Irish immigrants came from Ireland to America, especially to cities like New York and Chicago. Emily talked about this holiday and in second year we made some leprechauns to celebrate. We used them to give to the dads for father's day, too!
In sixth year, we saw a cool presentation about the history of Saint Patrick's Day and also how it is celebrated today. We learned that wearing green, finding a four-leaved clover, and kissing an Irish person, are all GOOD LUCK on Saint Patrick's Day. Check out the presentation below!
Check out this awesome video of the tradition in Chicago!
